Melancthon Balcomb's wife was Bridget. There is a typo at the New Cemetery records. Their daughter was Jane and she signed the death certificate. Deaths. BALCOMBE - At Burnbank, Ballarat, on the 22nd August, 1888, George M. Balcombe aged 69 years. Also, on the 24th August, Bridget Balcombe aged 75 years. Father and mother of John and George Balcombe, of Birregurra. .. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1888.

George Malancthon Balcombe was transported for ‘feloniously stealing, at Burstow, Surrey, a bullock's hide. He had been previously been convicted on the 6 th January 1835 and sentenced to 6 months hard labour at Brixton for stealing one truss of hay valued at 2 shillings from John Creasey. George was the son of James Balcombe Born: 1790 and Mary Bluckland Born 1795 and was born in Horne, Surrey. George was 5'8" tall, had dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, complexion-dark, sallow and freckled. He had a scar and a hairy mole on his left cheek, his nose inclined to the right side and he had several warts on the back of his right hand. 1842: TOL, Geelong, Victoria. 8/2/1845: Married Bridget Conway. Born 1818 Sligo Ireland, and Died 1888 Ballarat Victoria. They had 7-9 children (reports differ). The registrer of the Ballarat New Cemetery shows a couple buried together. BOKCOM, JANE. Aged 75. Widow. Date 25/8/1888 BOKCOM, MELANTHON GEORGE. Aged 68. Caretaker Date 23/8/1888
