At the County Galway  Assizes, the convicted: … -Patrick Broderick, Patrick feaunion. Patrick Callagy. William Callagy. and John Culliuane, for offences connected with the Terry Alts system,  to be each transported for Iife. Cullihane was an atrocious ruffian,   having first sworn the peasantry in a vast district, and offered to become an approver against them which was humanely declined by Capt. Warburton and the judicial authorities.  Mayo Constitution, 25 Aug 1831.  GALWAY ASSIZES. (From the Western Argus.)  … Five Terries were found guilty on Thursday, and two for manslaughter.  Morning Herald, 20 Aug 1831. Terry Alts was a secret society connected to Ribbonism and was linked to the rising number of agrarian outrages in the country side, following disastrous harvests in 1829.
