Photocopy of document in Victoria Police Gazette of August 1859 entitled Prisoners Discharged from the Penal Department during the week ending 16th August 1859 shows Cornelius Conway, alias William. A viewing of a document re Cornelius Conway from the Public Records of Victoria (PROV), re Central Register of Male Prisoners, 1853, at access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/veo-download?objectId=090fe27381735793&format=pdf&docTitle=ConwayCorneliusWilliamConwayNo658&encodingId=Revision-2-Document-1-Encoding-1-DocumentData is not clear in all aspects but does show 1842 (the date of William’s transportation to VDL), and (perhaps) “named” William Conway. So, did William Conway become Cornelius Conway?
