1828 Census Index. Mary Furlong, age 38, F.S. Canada 3, 1817, 7 years, protestant, ux Jas. Parsons, Princes Street, Sydney. Also listed: James Parsons, age 32, G.S. General Stewart, 1818, Life, protestant, Butcher, Mary Parsons or Furlong, Princes Street, Sydney. -------------------------------------------------- Somerset Assizes, (holden at Taunton.) The prisoners from Ilchester gaol, in number, were brought to Taunton castle. The calendar included 146 prisoners, and the following are the sentences. Transportation. For life: John Bumdge, Jas. Parsons, and Elizabeth Hummer, for assaulting and robbing Mr. G. Butcher, of Bath, of 30£. Bath Chronicle, 9 Apr 1818.

Parsons arrived in Sydney on the General Stewart in 1818 after being convicted at the Somerset Assizes and sentenced to life. Upon arrival he was assigned to his wife. On 27 September 1836 whilst he was working for a butcher in Princes St The Rocks he threw a piece of meat to John Champley who lived next door . Parsons was sentenced to 12 months in an iron gang at Carter's barracks and Champley sentenced to 3 years in an iron gang at Berrima. (see The Campbelltown Convicts).
